Some of the major items of equipment used by Metro Section can be seen on the table against the wall - on the left, a member of the section is working the controls of the Radiosonde Recorder (AN/TMQ-5). The recorder graphically records weather information from the balloon-borne radiosonde. Further to the right in the photo is the Control Recorder (AN/GMD-1). It tracks the balloon-borne radiosonde transmitter automatically and receives the radiosonde signal containing meteorological information, amplifies it and passes it on to the Radiosonde Recorder (AN/TMQ-5).
